• If you’re dealing with overwhelming grief, anxiety or anger, you will learn strategies to help you move through it in a healthy way. One of the biggest problems people with cancer have (and, by the way, their loved ones have also) is coping with the avalanche of feelings that always come with a cancer diagnosis. The worst way to cope with those strong emotions is to deny them or pretend they’re not important. You will learn several practical ways to cope with these feelings and actually use them to aid you in healing. Since the middle of the night is when emotions are most likely to come, you will also learn some simple, but highly effective ways to calm yourself and get more of the rest you need.
• More than 40% of cancer patients experience “treatment regret” after they have completed, or even in the middle of, a course of treatment. You will be able to research and review all your treatment options, even the ones your doctor hasn't mentioned, including traditional medical treatment, experimental protocols, and complementary methods. Armed with this solid information, you will have greater confidence to become a more active partner in determining the course and content of your treatment.
• Even the best doctors can have trouble explaining things in English. You will gain a better understanding of what’s happening, and learn how to talk to your medical providers in a respectful way that gets your questions answered and your needs met.
• You will learn some effective ways to deal with pain, nausea and fatigue that will, at the very least, enhance the effect of any drugs you taking and even allow you to be more comfortable with fewer drugs.
Healing is much more than achieving a physical cure, as important as that is.
Healing on an emotional and spiritual level is always available...even when a physical cure is not.
Healing is an active process that happens from the inside out. Healing is a process of finding peace and a deep sense of purpose and well-being, even in the midst of difficulty. A physical cure is a joyous event, but without the emotional healing to accompany it, it is empty. Your Coach will work with you around achieving all aspects of recovering from cancer.
